Vancouver Man Faces 21 Charges After Guns and Drugs Seized in Major B.C. Bust

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — A British Columbia man is facing 21 criminal charges after investigators allegedly uncovered a cache of firearms, ammunition, and illegal drugs during a search of a Vancouver home.

According to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), 31-year-old Dylan James Kennedy appeared in Vancouver court on April 7 and was released on bail pending further court proceedings.

The charges stem from a border services criminal investigation that led authorities to execute a search warrant at a Vancouver residence in August 2024.

Firearms and Drug Cache Discovered

The CBSA said the search was carried out with assistance from the Vancouver Police Department.

Investigators allegedly recovered six firearms from the property, including several 3D-printed pistols and a semi-automatic rifle.

Authorities also seized multiple replica firearms, ammunition, firearm components, and gun parts.

In addition to the weapons, officers reportedly found quantities of cocaine, ketamine, amphetamines, and ecstasy pills.

Multiple Weapons and Drug Charges

Kennedy now faces 21 charges related to firearms and controlled substances.

Among the allegations are:

  • Possession of prohibited firearms
  • Possession of unregistered firearms
  • Careless storage of firearms
  • Possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking
  • Other weapons-related offences

The charges were formally filed on March 31 following a lengthy investigation.

Growing Concern Over 3D-Printed Firearms

The case highlights ongoing concerns among Canadian law enforcement agencies regarding the rise of 3D-printed firearms, often referred to as “ghost guns.”

Because many of these weapons can be assembled without serial numbers, authorities say they can be difficult to trace and are increasingly appearing in criminal investigations.

Border officials and police agencies across Canada have intensified efforts to identify and disrupt illegal firearm trafficking and manufacturing operations.

Court Proceedings Ahead

Kennedy has not been convicted of any offence, and the allegations have not been tested in court.

As with all criminal cases, he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Further court appearances are expected as prosecutors continue to pursue the case.
