Police in Washington, D.C., are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting that injured a two-year-old boy.
The incident occurred at around 9:50 p.m. on June 10 inside an apartment complex in the 1700 block of Benning Road Northeast. Investigators say a gunman discharged a firearm within the building before fleeing the scene.
When officers arrived, they found a two-year-old child suffering from a bullet graze wound. The boy was transported to a nearby hospital by D.C. Fire and EMS personnel and is expected to recover from his non-life-threatening injuries.
As the investigation continues, the Metropolitan Police Department has released surveillance images and video of a person of interest believed to be connected to the shooting. Detectives are urging residents to review the footage and contact authorities if they recognize the individual. Police have not released information regarding a possible motive, and no arrests have been announced.
Officials hope the reward will encourage witnesses to come forward and assist investigators in identifying the suspect responsible for the shooting that left a young child injured.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Metropolitan Police Department or submit an anonymous tip through the department’s tip line.
