Mapleton Township, Ontario | June 13, 2026 — A devastating two-vehicle collision in rural Ontario has left several people dead and multiple others seriously injured, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
The crash occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the intersection of 4th Line and Wellington Road 12 in Mapleton Township, located northwest of Guelph.

Police said a van and a sport utility vehicle (SUV) collided at the intersection under circumstances that remain under investigation. The impact resulted in several fatalities, while numerous occupants from both vehicles suffered severe and life-threatening injuries.
Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene, and at least three victims were airlifted to trauma centres for urgent medical treatment. Additional injured individuals were transported by ambulance to nearby hospitals.
Due to the severity of the collision, the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team has been deployed to assist with the investigation. Authorities have closed portions of the roadway and implemented traffic detours while officers examine the scene and gather evidence.
Police have not yet released the identities of the victims or disclosed how many people were involved in the crash. Officials also have not provided information regarding the cause of the collision.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities say further details will be released as they become available.
