Florida Man Accused of Fleeing Deputies, Leaving Young Son Behind During Foot Chase

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida man was arrested after allegedly attempting to flee from sheriff’s deputies with two children in his vehicle before abandoning one of them and continuing his escape on foot, authorities said.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, 24-year-old Jason Kenon was taken into custody following the incident.

Investigators allege that Kenon attempted to evade deputies while driving with two children inside his vehicle. During the pursuit, he eventually stopped the vehicle and fled on foot.

Authorities say one of the children, identified as his young son, was left behind as Kenon continued to run from deputies. Law enforcement officers quickly ensured the children’s safety before continuing the search for the suspect.

Deputies later apprehended Kenon and placed him under arrest without further incident.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details regarding the ages of the children or what initially prompted the attempted traffic stop.

Officials emphasized that children were present throughout the incident, raising concerns about their safety during the alleged attempt to evade law enforcement.

Kenon remains in custody as the case moves through the court system. Authorities have not disclosed all of the charges he may face, and the investigation remains ongoing.

No injuries to the children or responding deputies were reported.
