Lucknow: A 12-year-old boy was seriously injured after being attacked by a crocodile while washing his hands and face in the Ghaghara River following paddy transplantation work, according to local reports. The victim, identified as Sunil, had reportedly accompanied family members to agricultural fields for paddy planting. After completing the day’s work, he went to the banks of the Ghaghara River to wash his hands and face when a crocodile suddenly emerged from the water and attacked him.

Hearing the boy’s screams, family members and nearby villagers rushed to the scene. Their immediate response reportedly forced the crocodile to retreat, allowing them to rescue the child. Sunil sustained injuries in the attack and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition has not been officially disclosed.

A video circulating on social media after the incident shows the aftermath of the attack, with villagers gathered near the riverbank as the injured boy is assisted. The authenticity of the video has not been independently verified by this publication.
