ESSEX, England — Police have arrested a man as part of an ongoing investigation into a series of alleged exposure incidents in the Stansted and Elsenham areas of Essex.
According to Essex Police, a 30-year-old British man was arrested on suspicion of exposure following reports that a man exposed himself while sitting inside a small red vehicle.
Two Confirmed Incidents Under Investigation
Police confirmed two incidents that occurred in recent weeks:
- Around 5:30 p.m. on May 16, 2026, on Station Road in Elsenham.
- Around 9:30 a.m. on May 30, 2026, on Alsa Street in Stansted.
Investigators believe the same individual may be responsible for both incidents.
The suspect was arrested on May 31 and has since been released on bail with conditions preventing him from returning to the locations involved in the investigation.
Police Probe Possible Link to Earlier Reports
Essex Police say officers are exploring whether the suspect could be connected to similar reports dating back to the summer of 2025.
Detectives are reviewing evidence and speaking with potential witnesses as they work to determine the full extent of the alleged behaviour.
Authorities are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have experienced similar incidents but has not yet reported them.
Appeal for Witnesses and Video Footage
Investigators are asking residents and motorists to check any CCTV, doorbell camera, or dashcam footage that may help identify additional incidents or provide evidence relevant to the case.
Sergeant Matthew Green said officers recognize the concern such incidents can cause within the community.
“We understand the concern incidents of this nature can cause and we are carrying out regular patrols in the area to provide reassurance and support the community,” Green said.
Increased Patrols in Community
Police have increased patrols in Stansted, Elsenham, and surrounding areas while the investigation continues.
