Toronto Police Officer Shot During Exchange of Gunfire While Executing Search Warrant

A Toronto police officer has been rushed to hospital with critical injuries following an exchange of gunfire during a search warrant operation in the city’s northwest end early Thursday morning.

The incident unfolded at approximately 5:42 a.m. on Martha Eaton Way, near Trethewey Drive and Black Creek Drive, where officers were executing a search warrant as part of an ongoing investigation.

According to Toronto Police, officers were carrying out the warrant when an exchange of gunfire occurred. During the confrontation, one officer was struck by gunfire and suffered critical injuries.

The injured officer was immediately transported to hospital in an emergency trauma run. Paramedics later confirmed the officer remains in critical condition.

Emergency crews also transported a second person to hospital with critical injuries. Authorities have not released the identity of that individual or clarified their role in the incident.

A large police presence descended on the area following the shooting, with investigators securing the scene and gathering evidence throughout the morning.
