Hundreds of Teenagers Gatecrash Dunedin Party, Causing Thousands in Damage

A Dunedin family has been left dealing with thousands of dollars in damage after hundreds of uninvited teenagers allegedly gatecrashed a party over the weekend.

The supervised gathering, held at a Fairfield property on Saturday night, was originally intended for just 35 invited teenagers. However, the number of attendees quickly grew after details of the event were shared on social media.

The party host’s mother, who has asked not to be identified, said waves of teenagers arrived throughout the evening, with some allegedly intoxicated before they reached the property.

She said many of the uninvited guests were dropped off outside the home and refused requests to leave.

According to the family, the situation escalated as the crowd grew, with some attendees becoming abusive towards the homeowners when confronted.

The unexpected influx of partygoers resulted in significant damage to the property, leaving the family facing a costly clean-up and repair bill.

The incident has highlighted the risks associated with parties promoted online, where details can quickly spread far beyond the intended guest list.

Authorities are understood to be investigating the incident.
