Two teenage boys from Logan Central have been charged following an alleged machete-wielding crime spree that targeted multiple properties across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Logan earlier this month.
According to Queensland Police, detectives from the Upper Mount Gravatt Crime Team arrested and charged the boys after investigating a series of alleged break-ins, vehicle thefts and stealing offences that occurred on June 11 and 12.
Police allege the pair, aged 14 and 15, entered a number of homes and premises while armed with machetes. Investigators claim the teenagers used several stolen vehicles, including a Honda Civic, Hyundai Santa Fe and Lexus, to travel between locations and carry out the offences.
The 15-year-old Logan Central boy has been charged with multiple offences, including attempting to enter a dwelling with intent to commit an indictable offence while armed, burglary, entering premises with intent, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, robbery, stealing and dangerous operation of a vehicle.
The 14-year-old boy faces similar charges relating to the alleged incidents.
Queensland Police allege the pair targeted multiple properties during the two-day crime spree, causing concern among residents across the affected areas. Detectives conducted an extensive investigation before laying charges against the teenagers.
Both boys have been remanded in custody and were scheduled to appear before the Brisbane Children’s Court on June 23.
Police are continuing their investigations and have urged anyone with information about the incidents to contact Policelink or provide anonymous information through Crime Stoppers.
The case highlights ongoing concerns over youth crime and vehicle-related offences across southeast Queensland.
