A man who was fatally shot inside an office building in Surrey, British Columbia, has been identified as an alleged senior member of the Lawrence Bishnoi criminal network, according to findings reported by CBC’s The Fifth Estate.
The victim, identified as Gurvikramjeet Singh Warring, was killed in a targeted shooting on May 4 inside a business complex in Surrey. The incident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. local time and sparked significant concern due to its brazen nature and public setting.
At the time of the shooting, authorities from the RCMP’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team confirmed that a homicide investigation had been launched but did not publicly identify the victim or disclose a possible motive.
However, The Fifth Estate has since reported that Warring was allegedly a key “handler” within the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, an organized crime network that has attracted international attention in recent years.
Alleged Links to Organized Crime
According to the investigation, Warring was believed to play an important operational role within the gang’s network. Sources cited by the report also alleged that he had connections to cricket-fixing activities, though no criminal convictions related to those allegations have been publicly reported.
Lawrence Bishnoi, an Indian gangster currently incarcerated in India, has been linked by law enforcement agencies to a range of organized crime activities, including extortion, drug trafficking, and contract killings. Authorities in both India and Canada have been examining the gang’s international reach and influence.
Targeted Killing Under Investigation
Investigators have described the Surrey shooting as a targeted attack. No arrests have been announced, and police have not publicly identified suspects connected to the homicide.
The killing has fueled speculation within the local South Asian community, particularly given ongoing concerns about transnational organized crime networks operating across Canada and India.
Growing Concerns Over Gang Activity
The incident comes amid increasing scrutiny of organized crime groups with alleged international links. Canadian law enforcement agencies have repeatedly warned about the growing sophistication of criminal networks operating across borders and their involvement in violent crimes.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Warring’s death and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
As of now, police have not officially confirmed the allegations regarding Warring’s role within the Bishnoi gang, and the homicide investigation remains ongoing.
