A woman has been taken into custody after allegedly shooting her father four times during a domestic dispute at an apartment complex in Middletown, Ohio, early Friday morning.
Police were called to the 1200 block of Jackson Lane at approximately 12:35 a.m. following reports of a disturbance involving family members. Upon arrival, officers found a man and woman engaged in a physical altercation.
Investigators say the man had suffered four gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel transported him to Atrium Medical Center before he was later transferred to another hospital for further treatment.
According to Middletown Police Chief Earl Nelson, the victim sustained potentially life-threatening injuries but was alive as of Friday morning.
The woman, identified by police as the victim’s daughter, was taken into custody at the scene. Authorities said she is expected to face charges including felonious assault. She may also face an additional charge of assaulting a police officer after allegedly struggling with officers during her arrest.
Police said one officer sustained minor injuries during the confrontation.
Investigators remained at the apartment complex for several hours as they processed evidence and interviewed witnesses. The scene was cleared later in the morning.
The suspect is currently being held at the Middletown City Jail. Formal charges had not yet been filed as of Friday, and authorities continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the shooting.
Police have not released additional details regarding what may have triggered the domestic dispute or whether other individuals were present at the time of the incident.
