EL PASO, Texas — A 48-year-old man wanted on multiple child sex crime charges has been arrested by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office following a targeted operation by deputies.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, members of the Special Operations Unit (SOU) received credible information on June 17 regarding the whereabouts of a wanted fugitive identified as Eric Rocha. Acting on the tip, deputies traveled to the 12900 block of Petunia Drive in San Elizario, where Rocha was located and taken into custody without incident.
Authorities said Rocha was wanted on several serious charges involving alleged crimes against children. The charges include three counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact and one count of continuous sexual abuse of a young child under the age of 14.
Following his arrest, Rocha was transported to the El Paso County Downtown Detention Facility for processing. Officials said he was booked on all charges and is being held under a combined bond of $125,000.
The Sheriff’s Office highlighted the arrest as an example of its ongoing efforts to track down individuals accused of crimes against children and ensure they are brought before the justice system.
“This arrest demonstrates the commitment of our deputies to locating and apprehending individuals accused of committing crimes against children,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
Law enforcement officials also encouraged community members to continue reporting information about wanted individuals and suspected criminal activity. Authorities say public cooperation plays an important role in helping investigators locate fugitives and maintain public safety.
The case remains active as the legal process moves forward. Rocha is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
