OAKDALE, Minn. — A Minnesota couple has been charged with multiple felony offenses after police discovered a missing 14-year-old girl hiding inside a cardboard box at their Oakdale home during a missing-person investigation.
According to court documents filed in Washington County, 46-year-old Angeline Olson and 48-year-old Andrew Olson are each charged with soliciting a child to engage in sexual conduct. Angeline Olson also faces a charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, while Andrew Olson has been charged with three counts of possessing child sexual abuse material.
Missing Teen Investigation
The case began on May 26 when Maplewood police received a report that a 14-year-old girl had left school without permission and could not be located.
The girl’s father informed investigators that she might be staying at the Oakdale residence of a friend whose parents were the Olsons. Officers visited the home later that day, but according to the criminal complaint, Angeline Olson told police that the girl was not there.
Authorities initially left the residence but continued investigating after receiving additional information about the girl’s possible whereabouts.
Neighbor’s Report Leads to Discovery
The investigation took a dramatic turn during the early morning hours when a neighbor reported seeing a teenage girl outside the home partially clothed. The witness contacted police after observing suspicious activity around the property.
Officers returned to the residence and conducted another search. According to court records, police discovered the missing teenager hiding inside a cardboard box concealed beneath a pile of clothing.
The girl was safely recovered and removed from the home.
Additional Allegations
Investigators later examined electronic devices belonging to Andrew Olson. Court documents allege that authorities discovered photos and videos that they believe depict the couple engaging in sexual acts with the 14-year-old girl.
As a result, prosecutors filed additional charges against Andrew Olson related to the possession of child sexual abuse material.
The allegations have shocked residents in the Oakdale community, where neighbors described the case as deeply disturbing.
Court Appearances
Both Angeline Olson and Andrew Olson have made their initial court appearances and remain subject to ongoing criminal proceedings.
An attorney representing Andrew Olson has stated that his client intends to contest the allegations and looks forward to defending himself in court.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
Investigation Continues
Law enforcement officials have indicated that the investigation remains active and additional evidence continues to be reviewed.
Authorities have not released further details regarding the condition of the teenager or whether additional charges could be filed as the case moves forward.
