Perth, Western Australia, Australia: A Perth pediatrician already accused of child sex offences has been hit with dozens of additional charges after police identified more alleged victims.

Dr Chia Liang Saw, 41, of Wembley, was first charged in May and has remained in custody at Hakea Prison while awaiting court proceedings.

Western Australia Police have now laid an additional 31 charges against the doctor after nine more children allegedly came forward with complaints.

The new charges include seven counts of indecent dealings with a child under 13, seven counts of producing child exploitation material, and six counts of indecent dealings with a child aged over 13 and under 16.

Dr Saw has also been charged with five counts of indecently recording a child under 16, four counts of indecently recording a child under 13, one count of sexual penetration of a child aged over 13 and under 16, and one count of intent to procure a person believed to be under 16 for sexual activity.

He had previously been charged with one count of sexual conduct with a child and one count of possessing child exploitation material.

In total, Dr Saw now faces 33 charges relating to alleged incidents said to have occurred between 2023 and 2026 in the Perth suburbs of Nedlands, Wembley, Midland and West Leederville.

According to his professional profile, Dr Saw most recently worked as a consultant pediatrician with St John of God hospitals across Perth and also served as a clinical lecturer at Curtin University.

Following the allegations, the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) suspended his medical registration.

Dr Saw is scheduled to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on Friday for a bail application hearing.

Police have urged anyone with information about the investigation or similar alleged incidents to contact Crime Stoppers.

The charges remain allegations at this stage, and Dr Saw is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless and until proven guilty in court.
