Residents in a Texas neighborhood got an unexpected visitor when a snake was spotted slithering through a residential area, prompting a call to local police for assistance.
According to the Fulshear Police Department, Officer Flynn responded to the scene and successfully removed the reptile without any specialized equipment. The department later joked on social media that the officer deserved extra credit for handling the snake with his bare hands.
The snake was identified as a non-venomous rat snake, a species commonly found across Texas. Rat snakes play an important role in controlling rodent populations and are generally considered harmless to humans.
While the encounter may have surprised local residents, it was far from unusual for Fulshear police. The department has become increasingly familiar with wildlife-related calls and has shared four separate videos of alligator removals from local properties over the past two months.
Texas communities frequently experience encounters with native wildlife, especially during warmer months when snakes and alligators are more active. Authorities continue to encourage residents to maintain a safe distance from wild animals and contact professionals if removal is necessary.
The latest incident quickly drew attention online, with many social media users praising Officer Flynn’s calm response and willingness to handle the situation personally. Fortunately, both the officer and the snake emerged from the encounter unharmed.
