BUCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. — A Virginia man is facing multiple felony charges after authorities discovered the body of his girlfriend inside a Buckingham County residence earlier this week.
According to the Buckingham County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of an unattended death around 12:07 p.m. on June 1 at a home located in the 1000 block of Slate River Mill Road.
When officers arrived at the residence, they found a deceased woman who was later identified as Linda Morris.
Suspect Arrested Hours Later
Following the discovery, investigators identified Morris’ boyfriend, Anthony Ray Shifflett, as a person of interest in the case.
Law enforcement officials located and arrested Shifflett later that same day in neighboring Albemarle County.
Authorities have charged him with second-degree murder and concealing a dead body.
He is currently being held at the Piedmont Regional Jail without bond.
Investigation Remains Active
Officials have not yet released details regarding the cause of death or what evidence led investigators to identify Shifflett as a suspect.
Detectives continue to examine the circumstances surrounding Morris’ death as the investigation moves forward.
Authorities have also not disclosed whether any additional charges could be filed.
