A 36-year-old woman was found dead inside a Brooklyn home on Saturday morning in what New York City police are investigating as a homicide.
According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), officers responded to a residence in the Bay Ridge neighborhood at approximately 9:15 a.m. following a report of an injured person. Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman inside the home with a severe laceration to her neck.
Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene, but the victim was pronounced dead before she could be transported to a hospital.
Authorities later identified the victim as Maria Santos Flores, 36. Investigators believe her death was the result of a violent attack and have classified the case as a homicide.
