Thane, Maharashtra: A gruesome murder in Maharashtra’s Mumbra has shocked the region after two men allegedly killed their friend, dismembered his body by severing his head and both hands to conceal his identity, and recorded the entire crime on a mobile phone.
According to police, the incident came to light after local residents discovered a mutilated body in a secluded area of Mumbra and alerted authorities. Officers rushed to the scene, secured the area and launched an investigation.
During the preliminary probe, investigators found that the victim had been brutally murdered before his head and both hands were cut off in an apparent attempt to prevent police from identifying him. The body was sent for a post-mortem examination while forensic experts collected evidence from the crime scene.
Using technical surveillance, CCTV footage and intelligence gathered during the investigation, police identified and arrested the victim’s two friends, who are believed to have carried out the murder.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to the crime. Police said the friendship between the three men had deteriorated due to personal disputes, eventually turning into a bitter rivalry that culminated in the killing. Investigators are examining the exact motive behind the murder, including whether it stemmed from financial disagreements or other personal conflicts.
In a chilling revelation, police said the accused allegedly used a mobile phone to record the murder. The video has been seized and is being examined as crucial evidence. Investigators are also conducting forensic analysis of the phones recovered from the accused to establish the sequence of events and determine whether the crime was premeditated.
Police have recovered the weapon believed to have been used in the murder and are continuing searches for other evidence linked to the case.
