Canberra, Australia: A man who allegedly spent more than a decade collecting child abuse material has been caught after sending a link containing hundreds of illegal files to an undercover investigator, authorities say.
According to court documents, Michael Gray-Kippax came to the attention of law enforcement after allegedly sharing a link containing 216 child abuse files with an investigator operating undercover online.
Police allege the material formed part of a collection that Gray-Kippax had been accumulating for more than 10 years. Investigators subsequently launched an operation that led to his identification and arrest.
The case highlights the growing use of covert online investigations by law enforcement agencies to identify individuals involved in the distribution and possession of child exploitation material.
Authorities have stressed that sharing, downloading, or possessing such material is a serious criminal offence, with offenders facing significant penalties, including lengthy prison terms.
Gray-Kippax has appeared before the courts in relation to the allegations. The charges remain before the judicial system, and he is entitled to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
