A Lake City, Arkansas, man has been charged with two counts of rape after two alleged victims, now adults, came forward to report sexual abuse that they say occurred when they were children.
According to court records, Poinsett County District Judge Ron Hunter found probable cause on Monday to charge Brandon Lee Hill, 35, with two counts of rape, a Class Y felony under Arkansas law.
Victims Came Forward in April
Investigators said both alleged victims, now in their 20s, contacted police in April to report incidents that allegedly occurred years earlier.
According to an incident report, the victims told authorities that Hill began by inappropriately touching them when he lived in Trumann, Arkansas. They alleged that the abuse later escalated to sexual intercourse.
Investigation and Arrest
Following interviews with the alleged victims, Detective Tyler Robinson attempted multiple times to contact Hill by phone. Police said those efforts were unsuccessful.
Authorities obtained an arrest warrant on June 5, and Hill was taken into custody the same day in Craighead County.
He was subsequently transported to the Poinsett County Detention Center.
Bond Set at $500,000
Hill is currently being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond while awaiting further court proceedings.
The judge also ordered Hill to have no contact with the alleged victims.
Next Court Appearance
Hill’s next scheduled court appearance is July 30.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and Hill is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
