LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Residents of a quiet Highview neighborhood are grappling with shock and sadness after a murder-suicide claimed the lives of two people Friday night.
According to the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD), officers responded to the 7200 block of Quindero Run Road after reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators later determined the incident was a murder-suicide. Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
The large police presence quickly drew the attention of neighbors, many of whom said they were stunned by the tragedy.
“I looked up the street, and it was like police cars all up and down the street,” said neighbor Victor Robards. “It came as a total shock, and we were very surprised.”
Another resident, Paul Rosenberger, described the incident as heartbreaking.
“It’s heartbreaking to have something like that happen so close to where I live,” Rosenberger said.
Neighbors said Quindero Run Road is typically a peaceful and close-knit community where residents know one another and regularly interact.
“It’s quiet and usually wave to people walking by, and they wave back. It’s the last thing that I would ever expect to happen on our street,” Rosenberger said.
Robards echoed those sentiments, describing the area as friendly and welcoming.
“People are real nice, and everybody gets along. You see how quiet it is and everything. This is how it is normally,” he said.
Despite the tragedy, residents said they continue to feel safe in the neighborhood.
“I still feel safe and secure in this neighborhood of ours. I still trust my neighbors,” Robards added.
LMPD’s Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the incident. Authorities have not released the identities of the deceased, and no additional information has been made public.
The investigation remains ongoing.
