Thieves Steal Up to $50,000 Worth of Pokémon Cards in Lightning-Fast New Jersey Smash-and-Grab

ROCHELLE PARK, N.J. — A New Jersey hobby shop owner is recovering after thieves stole an estimated $40,000 to $50,000 worth of valuable Pokémon cards during a smash-and-grab robbery that lasted barely more than a minute.

The theft occurred at Big Pack Hobby Shop in Rochelle Park, where surveillance cameras captured three suspects dressed entirely in black rushing into the store and targeting a display case containing high-value collectible cards.

Robbery Lasted Just Over One Minute

According to surveillance footage, the suspects entered the store and immediately headed toward a display case near the register.

Within seconds, they smashed the glass cabinet and grabbed a large quantity of graded Pokémon cards before fleeing the scene.

The entire robbery reportedly took just one minute and 13 seconds, leaving store employees little time to react.

Investigators have not determined whether the suspects entered the shop pretending to be customers before carrying out the theft.

Valuable Collectibles Targeted

The stolen items included highly sought-after graded Pokémon cards, which can be worth hundreds or even thousands of dollars each depending on rarity and condition.

Collectible trading card markets have experienced significant growth in recent years, making specialty hobby shops increasingly attractive targets for organized thieves.

Police believe the suspects escaped in a small dark-colored SUV and are reviewing evidence, including license plate reader data, in an effort to identify those responsible.

Store Owner Vows to Rebuild

For store owner Pablo Rancier, the robbery was especially painful as the incident occurred just after the shop celebrated its third anniversary.

Rancier said the business represents a lifelong passion and dream, and despite the setback, he remains determined to move forward.

The owner credited customers and community members for providing encouragement and support in the aftermath of the theft.

Investigation Ongoing

Law enforcement officials continue to search for the suspects and are asking anyone with information about the robbery or getaway vehicle to come forward.

No arrests have been announced.
