Two Residents Shot During Brampton Home Invasion, Suspects Sought
BRAMPTON, Ont. — A man and woman are recovering in hospital after a home invasion in Brampton early Sunday morning ended with both residents being shot.Peel Regional Police said officers were called to a home near Ray Lawson Boulevard and Bent Tree Court, in the area of Steeles Avenue West and McLaughlin Road South, shortly after 4 a.m.
Investigators allege that at least two suspects armed with firearms entered the residence through the rear of the home while the occupants were asleep.
Police said a confrontation occurred after the suspects entered the house, resulting in shots being fired inside the residence.
Paramedics transported an adult man and an adult woman to a trauma centre. Authorities now believe both victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspects fled the area following the shooting and remain at large. Police described both suspects as wearing dark clothing with their faces covered.
Investigators have not yet determined how many shots were fired or what type of firearm was used.
A significant police presence remained in the neighbourhood as officers canvassed the area and collected evidence.
Police are urging residents with doorbell camera or CCTV footage from the area to preserve any recordings and contact investigators as they continue to investigate the incident.
