Senior Couple Killed in Mississauga Home Assault; Police Search for Victims’ Son

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — Peel Regional Police are searching for a 46-year-old man after an elderly couple died following a violent assault at their Mississauga home on Thursday evening.

Police identified Jordan Sangwin, the son of the victims, as the primary suspect in the case. Investigators have warned that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Officers responded to reports of a disturbance at a residence near Lakeshore Road East and Hurontario Street at approximately 7:07 p.m. on June 18.

When police arrived, they discovered a 70-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman suffering from life-threatening injuries. Both victims were transported to hospital for emergency treatment but later died from their injuries.

According to Peel police, the injuries were not caused by a firearm. Authorities have not yet disclosed the exact cause of death as the investigation continues.

Investigators allege that Jordan Sangwin fled the scene before officers arrived. Police have launched an active search and are urging the public not to approach him if spotted.

Speaking at a news conference, Peel police Insp. Mike Mavity said the suspect is considered dangerous and anyone who sees him should immediately call 911.

While investigators believe this was a targeted incident involving family members and there is currently no immediate threat to the broader public, police continue to seek information regarding Sangwin’s whereabouts.

The case is being investigated as a double homicide, and authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Peel Regional Police.
