LONDON, ONTARIO: A motorcyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries after an overnight crash that forced the closure of a major stretch of Highbury Avenue South for several hours while police investigated.
The busy roadway has since reopened, but investigators are continuing to examine what caused the collision and are appealing for witnesses.
Where Did the Crash Happen?
The collision occurred on Highbury Avenue South, between Hamilton Road and Commissioners Road East, one of London’s busiest north-south routes.
Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly before 2 a.m. on Tuesday, prompting London Police to close the road in both directions as members of the Road Safety Section carried out a detailed collision investigation.
What Happened?
According to London Police Service, the crash involved a motorcycle. Officers have not confirmed whether any other vehicles were involved or what circumstances led to the collision.
Emergency medical crews treated the injured rider at the scene before transporting the person to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators remained at the location for several hours documenting evidence, examining the roadway and reconstructing the crash before allowing traffic to resume.
Rider Hospitalized
Police have not released the identity, age or gender of the injured motorcyclist.
Officials said the rider suffered serious injuries, but the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
