A Toronto police officer was seriously injured after being struck by a suspect vehicle during an auto theft investigation in the city’s east end early Monday morning.
The incident unfolded at about 1:04 a.m. near Donlands Avenue and O’Connor Drive, where officers responded to reports of a vehicle theft. According to police, officers attempted to stop the suspect vehicle and, during the confrontation, discharged their firearms at the vehicle.
Despite the police response, the vehicle allegedly struck an officer before fleeing the scene.

The injured officer was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency crews rushed to provide treatment as investigators secured the area.
Police later located the suspect vehicle and arrested the driver, who was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities said one additional suspect remains outstanding and has not yet been identified.
The incident has been referred to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), which is responsible for investigating cases involving police actions that result in serious injury, death, or the discharge of a firearm.
Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the collision. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward as the investigation remains ongoing.
